Watersports

The problem with the water sports in this area is deciding what to do with so many options! With your own water playground steps from your back door, you can canoe, scuba dive, swim, go tubing, wakeboard, water-ski, go white water rafting, kayak or cruise around in a speed boat.

If you are a water skier, welcome to paradise. The South Thompson River is renowned for flat, calm water. If you’re looking for action, try your hand at wakeboarding. A combination of water skiing, surfing and snowboarding, it too is popular on the South Thompson River.

If you are looking to explore some of the many beautiful lakes in the area, don't grab your car keys, grab your boat keys. From your private dock, you can boat to Shuswap Lake or Kamloops Lake, both within 45 minutes of the property.

For a slower pace, admire the beauty of the surrounding area and the South Thompson River in a canoe or kayak.

Kamloops is the ideal setting for skiing and snowboarding.  The winters in the city are mild but the surrounding mountains are usually full snow in the winters. You can choose 1,400 feet of varied landscape at Harper Mountain or check out the world renowned Sun Peaks Resort.

Situated within a 1 hour drive from three ski areas in the southern interior of BC, you can choose your ski destination when you wish. Check out the world renowned Sun Peaks Resort, which attracts ski enthusiasts from around the world. World class powder skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding and snowmobiling, all are only a 1-hour drive from the property. Vernon’s Silver Star Mountain, also an hour from the property offers you another world-class ski resort close to home.

There are so many dining choices in Kamloops; from fine dining to friendly family-owned restaurants. You can choose from Italian, western, oriental and much more. The locations are as varied as the cuisine and many restaurants have patios where you can dine out doors while enjoying the sights.

For the fishing enthusiasts, within a one-hour drive from Kamloops are over 100 fishing lakes. Kamloops is central to many streams, rivers and fish-filled lakes where you can test your skills at fishing. Whether you like trolling, using just a worm and hook, fly-fishing or spin casting, Kamloops is a wonderful place for fishing. You may also want to try your hand at ice fishing during the winter.

The Kamloops Rainbow Trout will keep any angler busy and are admired around the world as one of the most sought-after sport fish. Explore at your leisure in a canoe, kayak, pontoon boat, float tube or motorized boat. There are rivers and lakes of every shape and size and for every type of fisherman to choose from.

Hiking

There is a trail for every skill level in this area. With a variety of trails to choose from and numerous Hikingtypes of terrain, you will never run out of sights to see while hiking around this region. There is even urban hiking within Kamloops on the Rivers Trail where you can walk from one end of Kamloops to the other on an easy 16 km trail.

Peterson Creek Park is located in the heart of Kamloops and has several entrances. Hike to the waterfall and cool off. Kenna Cartwright Park offers beautiful views of Kamloops and the valleys; you will also see sagebrush, forest and grasslands. Peterson Creek and Kenna Cartwright are just two among many of the different hiking areas in and around Kamloops.


Horseback Riding

Located in the heart of ranch country, this property is surrounded by large working ranches as well as small acreages with a few horses. Whether you are an experienced rider or not you can experience the beauty of this area on horseback anytime of the year. With two fenced irrigated pastures on the property this is the ideal location for those wanting to own or board horses. If you just prefer an occasional ride, you can plan an afternoon ride or head out on an overnight pack trip to sleep under the stars. Kamloops has a variety of riding stables who offer guided tours for any experience level. If you need riding gear, Kamloops also has a number of riding shops.

Kamloops is the birthplace of "freeriding" and has always attracted mountain biking enthusiasts. Currently, Kamloops has 1000 hectares of public bike trails which range from high-speed, single-track and BMX courses. Whether you like to bike for leisure or adventure, Kamloops has it all.

The Kamloops Bike Ranch Mountain is the best municipal bike park in Canada. There are over 26 hectares of bluffs, pine trees, grasslands, and gullies to explore. There are guided tours available to give you the ultimate experience in mountain biking.

Kamloops offers a variety of shopping outlets, malls, Shopping and boutiques. Downtown Kamloops boasts eclectic boutiques, international Shoppingmerchandise, men’s and women’s attire, designer brands and sports apparel.

If you are looking for Western or English riding wear, Kamloops has a wonderful selection of Western stores. For work, play or souvenirs, Kamloops has some of the best Western shops around.
